Over the weekend I went to my fourth Independents’ Day Festival! This is by far my favorite festival in Columbus. I fell in love with the event four years ago when it was located at Pearl Alley in Downtown Columbus. In 2014, they moved the festival to East Franklinton (which I blogged about here). It has been SO incredibly wonderful to see how much the festival has grown and the impact it has made on the community of Franklinton and Columbus as a whole. NPR even gave Independents’ Day a show-out in their recent article on Columbus (read here)!
I went to the festival on Sunday after church with Chase and we ended up meeting up with one of his housemates. We walked around to see all the vendors (I got a few goodies including a vintage dress + a sunflower pin), had lunch (I had shrimp + grits from the Red Plate Blue Plate foodtruck), enjoyed craft beers, and listened to great music. It was a hot day, but we lucked out and avoided the rain that the festival got the day before. It was a super fun and I still agree that Independents’ Day is my favorite festival in Columbus! I can’t wait to attend next year!
Have a great Wednesday!
