When I booked my flight to Dallas, I knew one thing I wanted to do was take a day trip to Waco to visit Magnolia Market. Haven’t heard of Magnolia Market? Well, Magnolia Market is owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines of HGTV’s Fixer Upper. I was pretty addicted to watching HGTV last summer and their show is definitely my favorite. I would recommend you start watching it if you haven’t seen it before, and I think Netflix has some episodes of Fixer Upper. Magnolia Market is located in the heart if Waco, Texas. Waco is about one and half hours south of Dallas, so we spent the day exploring Waco! Chip and Jo recently moved their market to the silos, which Jo talked about while on Fixer Upper. I was really excited to see the silos and the market in person, and it was much crazier than I anticipated! And no, we didn’t get to see/meet Chip or Jo. Look at all of those people!! It was spring break for the majority of Texas schools, so even though we went on a Thursday, it was packed! When we got into Waco, we couldn’t believe the traffic we hit and we thought: “There’s no way this is coming from Magnolia, there has to be another event?” We were so wrong. All of the traffic was for Magnolia! It was crazy to see the tourism that Magnolia Market attracted. There were probably 1,000 people at the market when we visited. We actually pulled up to the market, then decided to get lunch somewhere else in town hoping that the crowds would die down. When we got back, there was still a bunch of people. We got in line to the enter the market after the initial shock of all the people. We waited for about 45 minutes, which wasn’t bad at all. The inside of the market was as equally crazy as the outside area. I ended up buying a Magnolia Market shirt for me and coffee mug for Chase, plus a small wreath for my home. I was hunting for the perfect home decor item that I could use and fit in my suitcase to take back home, so the wreath made sense. Also, I didn’t realize until we were getting ready to leave Dallas that my camera wasn’t at full power. It ended up dying as we were waiting in line (this is the first time it has died on an adventure!). So I decided to create the below collage of iPhone photos.
It was really awesome to see Magnolia Market and the vision the Gaines Family has in person. Magnolia Market at the silos has definitely made an impact on the community because a bunch of new businesses are popping up around. The yard at the silos provides a gathering place for people of all ages, a place to play, multiple food trucks to eat at, and the entire Magnolia Market to explore. A bakery and garden center will be opened in Magnolia soon. It will interesting to see what happens to Waco as they continue to grow the space!
Have you ever visited Magnolia Market? It was definitely worth the trip, so I would recommend going! Have a great weekend!
