Happy Friday! One of the initial reasons I started a blog was to have a place where I could show my crafts, which is why my original blog name was “Adventures of a Crafty Critter.” And you know something that I rarely blog about now? Crafts! I am still a crafty and creative person, but I don’t make a ton of time for crafting. I’m thankful that I am in a field that allows my creative side to show, even if it’s not DIY or art projects. One of my goals for February is to start crafting again because I want my word of the year to be “create” (more on that next week!). This sign was a small project, yet extremely gratifying. Painting is something that relieves stress for me and allows me really focus on creating.
Wood plaque, paint colors, & the brushes I used were all purchased at Michael’s*. I mixed Craft Smart’s Bright Pink with Craft Smart’s Silver for the sparkly pink background, Basics’ Naphthol Crimson for the sides, and Craft Smart’s Black for the hearts & lettering. *This is not a sponsored post.
The reason I made this sign was I sadly lost a majority of my Valentine’s Day decoration from my basement flooding over the summer. The moisture got to most of them and some of my other holiday decorations, which bummed me out. I actually had a post about my decoration last year, which can be found here. The sign is more vibrant than I expected, but I like that! I am so glad that I purchased the silver paint because it’s fun to mix-in with other colors to add the sparkle. Have you made anything for Valentine’s Day this year? I’m also in the process of sending out some Valentine’s Day cards because it’s sad that once we get older we don’t pass them out like we did in our childhood! I hope to share more crafts throughout the month and in 2016 here on the blog.
Have a great weekend!
