Foodie Friday #4

It’s been a while since my last Foodie Friday, so are you ready for another one? I have marked a lot of “must try” restaurants off of my list this summer, which makes me pretty happy.

1.  French Onion Soup & a Grilled Cheese with Bumble Berry Honey Blueberry Ale from Arch City Tavern

I went to August’s Gallery Hop with a couple friends and we ate at Arch City Tavern for dinner. It was the first time there for all of us. I got their grilled cheese with smoked Gouda and the french onion soup. The grilled cheese came with a tomato soup, but since I don’t really like tomato soup, I substituted the onion soup. The soup was actually in an onion – how cool! It was all so delicious. I also tried a new beer, Fat Head’s Bumble Berry Honey Blueberry, and I will definitely be getting that again!

I had been to the Angry Baker once before with a friend over a year ago, but I had been wanting to go again with Chase. The Angry Baker is in Old Towne East and is a small cafe with the kitchen exposed to all. Chase got the breakfast burrito, while I went with a unique version of french toast (I had to keep up with my tradition of having french toast in each Foodie Friday post!). The french toast had ham & cheese on it! Sounds like an odd combination, but it was delicious and really filling.  We also shared some macaroons before because we were both pretty hungry when we got there.

I had been wanting  to try Red Hook Grill for the longest time. My boss has raved about it for months and Chase & I finally tried it this past weekend! Red Hook Grill is located in Grandview Heights and it has a smaller dining area. My boss had recently tried the mac & cheese and since I am a huge cheese lover, I decided to go for that. Chase had the red hook pasta. Both pasta dishes came with garlic bread. I decided to order the True Blue cocktail that was quite potent, it  was coconut and pineapple flavored. It was  a great meal.
