Exploring Cocoa Village

I am back from vacation! The boyfriend & were visiting his mom in Melbourne, Florida. This is my first post of a few I have planned from my Florida vacation. On Saturday we decided to visit Historic Downtown Cocoa Village because they were having a “Christmas in July” celebration in the downtown.

Cocoa Village is about forty minutes north of Melbourne. We walked around & visited the shops that were still open. My favorite shop we visited was The Mint Mermaid. This shop has jewelry, home decor, & lots of cute things! I purchased a fun map & a pair of earrings. It’s run by two sisters & it was a very popular shop. Many of the shops were filled with the same touristy-beachy things, so I liked that this one was different. Another great place we liked was an art studio & store called Carolyn Seiler Studio. I purchased some colorful postcards to send to my friends when we go back to school. After visiting most of the stores we had dinner at Murdock’s Southern Bistro because of a recommendation from some of the townies.

These signs were on almost every corner of the downtown

The Mint Mermaid’s window display. They had a little sign that said “Always be yourself, unless you can be a mermaid. Then, always be a mermaid” 🙂

We were a little surprised that a fair amount of the shops were not opened for the Christmas in July celebration, but that can happen when they are local & family run shops. The downtown reminded us of the area we explored in St. Augustine over New Years. We will probably make another trip to Cocoa Village during the daytime to visit more of the shops.

Stay tuned for more posts about my vacation adventures in Florida!
