“Be Our Guest” — Crafty Kitchen Sign

I just finished my latest crafty home decor item! I had the idea for this a couple months ago, but I finally had some time to make it & gather the needed materials. The quote is from the song “Be Our Guest” in the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast. I was in the musical my freshman year of High School &ย loved it! I was in the ensemble as a villager & a tea cup. I still remember how amazing it felt when we had a standing ovation at the end of “Be Our Guest” & had to hold our “Disney smiles” the entire time. Anyways, I started out by painting a leftover wood board a bright yellow; which now that I think of is awfully similar to Belle’s dress, right? ๐Ÿ™‚ After that,ย I wrote out the quote in pencil & went over it in permanent marker.

Craft (5)I had needed to go thrifting in order to finish the piece because I had the idea to add smallย silverware for the sign. ย I actually found a lot of tiny silverware, too!

Craft (7)Besides adding the silverware to the board, I also felt like it was missing something else, so I decided to add purple polka dots.

Craft (2)The next step was using my hot glue gun to add the silverware. Once I glued them on, I decided to also paint them with the purple.

Craft (3)I planned to be finish with the piece after adding the silverware & the final purple touches, but then I thought of the idea to give the knife, spoon, & fork faces! When I was in the musical, we even had dancing silverware. I had googly-eyes on hand, so I used those & a marker to complete the faces.

Here is the final result! I am pretty pleased with how it turned out & am excited to hang it up for everyone to see.
